GOLD Player Valuations

One of our users ("Jerry") was concerned that PC Drafter wasn't recommending more QB's in their league.

Jerry "Why would I want to compare to the average of the best 11 remaining QBs when 7 have already been drafted and only 4 more starters are needed? Please correct me if I am wrong."

Henry- Offhand, I'd say it's not just the number of starters you're concerned about bumping up against, but the maximum allowed number of QB's in your league.

Greg Alan (4for4.com)- Yes. In fact, its not only the max number allowed (if any), it's also, whats left undrafted that counts as well. Further, lets say all your starters were filled except QB. Would that make QB the most vauable pick? Of course not. Futher, if the only key criteria were X-number of starters needed, what happens after you have all your staters? Below is a sample. It can be used for a ton of questions and challengs too - EX: "how come QB is not at the top, they score the most points in my league", Jerry's q and much more.....

EX: Let’s say we knew with 100% certainty the top NFL players would score as follows… check out the number:

NFL projections for top 5 players in each position
player QB RB TE WR
1 103 92 45 72
2 99 90 22 71
3 99 90 19 70
4 98 89 13 69
5 98 89 12 68

SO, WHO’S THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER ABOVE? QB-1? RB-1?

Easy answer --- it’s TE-1, even with him being a lower point scorer than all of the #1 QBs, RBs and WRs!

Why? Because if you get TE-1 and any of the other QBs and RBs above you will have the highest scoring TEAM -- even higher than QB1 + RB1 + TE2+ WR1.

(TE1+QB5+RB5+WR5) IS MORE THAN (QB1+RB1+TE2+WR1)

Simply stated, in the above scenario, if you have TE-1 you basically can’t lose and yet TE-1 is far from the highest scoring player. This applies at the start of the draft and basically can be extended after picks are being made as well. Plus, GOLD goes way past this single factor.
